Navasana (Boat Pose)

Navasana (Boat Pose)

Details

Navasana (Boat Pose) is a powerful seated yoga asana that strengthens the core, hip flexors, and spine. By balancing the body in a "V" shape on your sitting bones, it builds stamina and improves abdominal tone. How to Practice Navasana Starting Position: Sit on your mat with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Engage the Core: Place your hands behind your knees, inhale, roll your shoulder blades back, and lift your chest while drawing your abdomen inward. Find Balance: Lean back slightly, coming to rest on your "sit bones" (not your tailbone). Lift your feet off the floor until your lower legs are parallel to the mat. Extend: Slowly reach your arms straight forward, parallel to the floor. If you are working on the full pose, carefully straighten your legs to form a diagonal line. Hold: Gaze at your toes and hold the posture for 5 deep breaths.
